1. Dreamy and creative

Why I Love Being a Web Developer: It all started while I was studying and dreaming of becoming “a creative person”: writer, illustrator, musician, or filmmaker. The funny thing was: I was lazy to create anything. I wanted to be part of it, but not to create it myself. I wanted to be a designer, not a designer. I chose to become a web developer.

I understood that creativity is not really something you can force yourself to do. When you are creative, you always

2. Decent hourly rate

As a developer, I can work anywhere: at home, at a cafe, in the park, or on a plane. I can find a new job whenever I want. I have a lot of options and I can choose the best working environment for me. As long as I am active on social media, I can learn about new job opportunities at any moment.

3. Work anytime and anywhere

Professional web devs are usually freelancers – but not in India!

Whenever I need help with my skills, I can ask a more experienced developer for help. I can ask a professional for feedback or about the best way to solve my problem. I can ask my co-workers to solve a problem when we are stuck. I can quickly find an answer to any question I have by searching online. I can ask my boss about any topic. Yes, I can write code for hours and hours, but if there is no monitor in front of me, my brain would just crash. I need to have some kind of feedback from people telling me how I am doing. When I work remotely, I need

4. Understanding people problems using technology

The best way to solve people's pain points is to give them the right technology. Let me use the example of this person who left her job because she needed to travel for her family:

For her, that technology was project management software that allowed her to track work, do tasks and communicate with people. The piece of technology that would help her feel comfortable was some tracking and project management tool. But you can't trust everyone to know how to use tools. What if these tools were available to everyone? What if people weren't at the end of the line, the end of the tunnel, the end of the works queue?

When people ask for help, they need someone to explain to them what I can help them with. With the help of technology, we as developers can help people deal with complex problems.

5. No dress code

There is always a good mood at code camps and hackathons. There are always people around who inspire you and motivate you to keep coding. You can always ask if there are any other geeks at work who are as passionate as you are about developing! Another amazing thing is that you don't feel any pressure when it comes to dressing code. You can wear whatever you want: shorts or normal pants, a T-shirt or a full suit.

There is no suit or formal clothes needed at code camps and hackathons. In fact, you shouldn't wear anything fashionable. You should just focus on your work.

6. The community of coders

In a code camp or hackathon, you get to meet the best developers around. They are passionate people with the best hearts. My impression of those people is that they don't want to become the best at something, but they just want to share their knowledge and help people with their work. At code camps and events you will meet people from all over the world, who are as eager to give you feedback as you are to give them. Coders are really good people and you will meet the nicest ones at code camps.

7. The amount and quality of coding

At code camps or hackathons, you will spend from 3 to 7 hours coding. During those hours you get to learn a lot of things that you cannot learn by yourself. You will learn about the newest programming language, you will find solutions for new problems and you will test your skills. The people who organize these events set the goal for you to learn so much in just one day.

The coding that you complete during the hackathons is checked by the organizers and is at that level of perfection. Afterward, people get their results if they succeeded or fail in certain topics.
